1-L’Opéra Garnie

 When looking for where to see an opera performance in Paris, it pays to take a close look at the fantastic Palais Garnier.  Located at Place de l'Opéra, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, it forms, with the Opéra Bastille, the famous "National Opera of Paris": in short, this prestigious place is quite simply one of the world epicenters of musical theater, welcoming  nearly 500,000 visitors each year: it is one of the most visited monuments in the city of Paris!

 The performance hall has a metal structure coated with rare marbles and stucco, as well as velvet and gilding typical of large Parisian buildings;  illuminated by some 340 lights, the representations given there sparkle to the rhythm of the openings of a splendid stage curtain worth, in itself, the look!

 In addition, it is possible to visit this historic monument during the day without necessarily attending a chic performance in the evening and, each season, some sixty performances are specially dedicated to young audiences who come to discover a fantastic opera performance in Paris.

 2. The Bastille Opera

 Forming, with the Opéra Garnier, "the Opéra national de Paris", it is its second face, fully anchored in modernity.  It was François Mitterrand, then President of the Republic, who decided at the beginning of 1982 to build, place de la Bastille in the 12th arrondissement, an opera more popular and less elitist and stilted than the performance spaces then present in  the capital.  The colossal project, drawn up by the talented Canadian architect Carlos Ott chosen after an international design competition, lasted seven years and it was finally July 14, 1989 - yes, on National Day!  - that the fabulous Bastille Opera was inaugurated;  one of the best places to see an Opera show in Paris.

 In fact, the latter has two rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to .. 2,700 spectators!  And even if you would not want to attend a performance in this great opera house, you can go and learn at the library available to the public and which includes a multimedia space .. dedicated to opera,  but also to many other forms of musical art!

 3. The Châtelet Theater

 Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, this historic monument has a splendid performance hall with a sparkling glass ceiling with a magnificent chandelier at its center.  A magnificent mural fresco signed by the painter Valerio Adami spans the gallery, which allows visitors to discover an opera performance in Paris to attend various and varied performances: recitals, musicals, operas, but also concerts by  classical music and jazz.

 To conclude, here is a very interesting anecdote: the place is home to the prestigious Cesar Cinema ceremony, where the big screen gratin meets hoping to be distinguished!

 4. The Champs-Élysées Theater

 It is on the very chic avenue Montaigne, in the heart of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, that you access the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, classified as a historic monument in 1954 and considered one of the best places to see an opera performance in Paris.  : indeed the latter, built in 1913 in the purest art deco style and inaugurated on April 2 of the same year, houses three performance halls and a restaurant located at the top.

 The first hall is the Champs-Élysées theater, a large "Italian" hall capable of accommodating 1,905 people, and which is intended to present opera performances and musical concerts.  The second, the Comédie des Champs-Élysées, with its 601 seats, is an ideal place to attend theatrical performances.  As for the third, the Studio, which is also dedicated to hosting theater troupes, it is much smaller but offers an intimate experience close to the actors with its 230 seats.

 In addition to the shows offered to the curious, they can also visit the place to admire the splendid interior decoration of the theater, which includes frescoes and bronzes by Bourdelle, a dome decorated by Maurice Denis just before the inauguration of the place, as well as  many decorative paintings from the painters Vuillard, Roussel or Marval.

 5. The Opera-Comic

 Created under Louis XIX at the beginning of the 18th century, it is with the prestigious Comédie-Française and the Royal Academy of Music one of the oldest French theatrical institutions.

 Located at 5, rue Favart, in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, the prestigious Salle Favart - another name of the Opéra-Comique - has had the status of a public industrial and commercial establishment since 2004: this legal contract established by the  French state allows instead to host many performances of famous lyrical works, which makes the place one of the best places to see an opera performance in Paris.  In addition, the shows in question have the characteristic of highlighting both baroque operas and contemporary works, but also pieces from the historical repertoire of the Opéra-Comique and original French and also foreign creations.

6. The Nursery

 Number of seats: 350

 La Pépinière is a cultural space on a human scale: with only 350 seats, it feels like part of the show!  If the main vocation of the Nursery is to host plays and theater shows, it is nevertheless possible to discover some performances of opera, particularly contemporary opera, staging experienced or novice playwrights.

 Open and accessible to all audiences, it is undoubtedly a great place to see an opera performance in Paris with ease.

 7. National Theater of Chaillot

 Number of seats: 1750

 It is one of six French national theaters: with three halls of 1,250, 420 and 80 seats, the National Theater of Chaillot is one of the most prestigious in France.  If we tell you about it, it is that the latter, in addition to the magnificence of the place, focuses almost all of the performances given there on dance performances, ballets and operas-ballets, classical or contemporary.  The smallest room is even exclusively dedicated to studies, innovative creations and works aimed at "breaking the codes" of opera!

 As you can see, there is something for everyone at the Chaillot National Theater: go and take a look to enjoy a moment of pure grace!

 8. The Rond-Point theater

 Type of opera: Comic / Ballet / Contemporary / Unusual
 Number of seats: 760

 The Rond-Point theater is normally dedicated to comedies, dramas and other contemporary theatrical works, but also hosts some contemporary opera performances: it must be said that the 760 seats welcoming a large and varied audience allow to discover many lyrical wonders  and sometimes wacky, but always performed by troupes with solid stage experience.

 This theater is animated by a cheerful wind of artistic lightness: against the current, it offers fun, incongruous and sometimes subversive shows, not to be missed when looking for where to see an opera performance in Paris
